Can we start by CONGRATULATING these four incredible chaps who have just managed to complete the Laugavegur Ultra Marathon in Iceland on Saturday in just under 8 hrs. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to help them out with some embroidered polo's for their mammoth venture. Richard Ross, Richard McBride, Ralph Mercer & Andrew Topping are 4 unhinged friends with a history of signing up for some challenging mountainous adventures. Their latest challenge took them to Iceland to take part in the The Laugavegur Ultra which was a 55km (34 mile) off-road ultra marathon that took place in the highlands of Iceland on Saturday (14th July 2018). For a little insight into what these guys would have endeavored I have attached a link from last years Ultra Marathon. The team of 4 ran in aid of two special causes. The Air Ambulance NI and Claire Robinson, working with SIM in Zambia in education.
Richard Ross (Second from the left) commented: " The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with lunar landscapes dominant. "A challenging day out!" "The weather on the 55Km/34miles off-road course was around 13 degrees with some fog on the highest mountain section, but otherwise kind. Their route had a number of sections over snow (approx 8km), alongside volcanic ash and rope-assisted river crossings." Not a easy feat for them to overcome. They have financed all of their own travel, accommodation & entry costs, so every penny raised will go to the charity.
